Founded in 1986, the Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset (IUIOG) is a postgraduate and research center equivalent in essence to the graduate schools of North American universities. It was the first university institute promoted and managed in Spain by a private entity, the José Ortega y Gasset Foundation, and attached to a public university, the Complutense University of Madrid. Its patronage is integrated by the José Ortega y Gasset-Gregorio Marañón Foundation , the Autonomous Community of Madrid, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Complutense University of Madrid, as well as a select group of academics elected by consensus.

Our campus

The Campus is located in the center of Madrid, and in an emblematic building, the old Residencia de Señoritas, located at the confluence of Fortuny and General Martínez Campos streets. This institution played an important role in the incorporation of Spanish women in professional fields. Among the teachers, they highlighted figures such as María Zambrano, Zenobia Camprubí, Gabriela Mistral, Victoria Ocampo, María Martínez Sierra and Clara Campoamor. And from their classrooms came pedagogues such as Juana Moreno, María Comas Camps, Carmen Castilla, Margarita de Mayo Izarra and Carmen Isern; scientists such as María García Escalera or Cecilia García de Cosa; policies like Victoria Kent, or law specialists like Matilde Huici.

Converted into the headquarters of the Ortega y Gasset Foundation in 1978, the Library stands out, created from the 13,000 volumes owned by José Ortega y Gasset, to which bibliographic collections of prominent intellectuals, national and international institutions have been added. ; and in 2011, and thanks to the merger with the Gregorio Marañón Foundation, of the library of Gregorio Marañón.

The Campus has all the necessary facilities to provide training, and is equipped with the most advanced technologies to facilitate, both teachers and students, the completion of their respective jobs.

The confluence of the environment with the presence of leading professional and intellectual experts, who exercise their teaching, contribute to provide the IUIOG with an appropriate environment to acquire an excellent education, foster a passion for research, and create a critical spirit that It will allow our students to face their personal and professional challenges.
