The Dominican Republic has one of the strongest economies among the middle income countries of the world, and the government has set itself ambitious goals for its social and economic development. The PhD is a doctoral degree, specifically called a "doctor of philosophy" degree. This is misleading because PhD holders are not necessarily philosophers (unless they earned their degree in philosophy!).
