A PhD is the abbreviation for Doctor of philosophy. This degree is a post graduate program delivered to a high level student researcher who has done deep research in a specific field or subject.

A program of study in teacher education can prepare potential K-12 educators in core curriculum areas such as math, science, English or history, but can also instruct in classroom management. For secondary teaching instruction, an interest in teaching a specific subject may be the focus of the program.
