OSU's Master of Science in materials Science and Engineering program is located at OSU-Tulsa and places the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology in a unique position to conduct world-class education, research and Technology development and transfer in advance materials of strategic importance to our nation.

The aim of the doctoral study program "Thermal Engineering and Fuels in Industry" is the scientific education of professionals who are able to creatively solve scientific research problems in the field of thermal engineering, energy, fuel chemistry, ceramic materials especially for high temperatures and material and energy utilization of waste. . The graduate is able to independently identify and formulate a scientific problem, design and develop a method of solution and implement theoretical, experimental, computational or simulation activities aimed at solving the problem. Graduates of the field are ready to develop and design new technologies and thermal-technical and energy equipment, as well as to increase the technical level of existing ones, especially with regard to increasing productivity, saving fuels and energy while minimizing environmental impact.

The purpose of the Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering is to develop an engineer with advanced abilities in applying fundamental engineering sciences and/design and synthesis, and related principles independently to specific problems of society at large.

Condensed Matter and Photonics (CMP) brings together scientists with complementary skills, to share knowledge and resources, to provide a focus and direction for the future of our physics research, and provide training for the next generation.

Doctoral study program Chemical metallurgy is a modern scientifically oriented, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research program. The study is mainly oriented on the chemical aspects of preparation, extraction and recycling of metallic materials and the characterization of these materials. Furthermore, the study program is focused on the study of other inorganic materials in the solid and liquid phases. The processes of metals extracting from primary and secondary raw materials, the study of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys and also ecological aspects of metallurgical production impact on the environmenareis studied. The doctoral study program is focused on aspects of industrial technologies arising mainly from a chemical-physical basis and on the properties study of inorganic materials for the broad application areas. This study program brings up top-quality specialists with creative inventiveness and with the use in the labour market in scientific, research, development, management and production spheres in given and related branches.

The doctoral study branch Metallurgical Technology covers the entire issue of production and processing of liquid and solid materials based on iron and non-ferrous metals, thereby holds a unique position in the structure of disciplines of Czech universities.Workplaces of specialized departments are equipped with modern experimental, instrumental and analytical equipment with which it is possible to solve the challenging tasks of scientific research projects in the field of basic and also of applied research. The Doctoral Degree program educates top scientific professionals who will be able to apply their knowledge in the scientific, research, development and also in the production sphere in a highly professional and leader functions in the specific field and also in related fields.

Research is focused on understanding fundamental properties of materials, developing and advancing new aspects of experimental techniques for investigating these properties, and exploring the potential for developing applications of the materials under investigation.

The department offers a curriculum with a broad spectrum of courses, uniquely merging the core chemical engineering training with the fundamental knowledge of materials science/engineering and further strengthened with the in-depth studies on emerging research and industrial fields.

Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (IMSE) was founded in August 2005, and currently offers both master and doctoral programs.

The Ph.D. program in Material Science and Engineering is designed to give students a broad and deep understanding of materials science and engineering so that they will have long and fruitful careers as researchers.
