Top Doctors of Philosophy in Education in Europe 2019/2020
The PhD can vary depending on the institution and country in which it is awarded. Most scholars pursue a PhD because of strong motivation to contribute to the academic community as well as true curiosity about their chosen field of study.
Teaching can be very frustrating if you do not advance your education skills and knowledge to doctorate level. This will enable you to understand the concepts better and deliver quality content to your students. It will also enable you to understand the student's behavior well.
There are more than four thousand higher education organizations in Europe, from leading research institutions to small, teaching-focused universities. Europe itself is not as much different than other continents, reaching from the Arctic Circle to the coast of Africa.

Doctoral Study on Chemistry Didactics is the culmination of the three-tier university education. Is a targeted grounding in research activities focused on teaching and learning chemistry, which is based on deepening the knowledge of the chemistry didactics and of the relevant area of chemistry, pedagogy, psychology, computer science and other disciplines, to learn the methods of scientific work in the mentioned fields and will significantly contribute to a comprehensive improvement of the work of chemistry teachers at various levels of the education system, experts on curriculum creation and its evaluation in accordance with current scientific knowledge and research. The branch includes a range of topics, e.g. the transformation of scientific knowledge of chemical processes into chemistry teaching and learning, research and development of school chemical experiments, ICT applications in chemical education, environmental and toxicological aspects of chemistry education etc. A mandatory part of the study relates to the acquisition of deep knowledge of chemistry didactics (educational theory and practice in chemistry), selected areas of specialized chemistry and pedagogical methodology and especially chemistry didactic research. Individual study plan allows getting more specific knowledge and skills, in particular through elective courses....

Our group has two broad lines of research activity.
The first is concerned with understanding the source, scope and pattern of education policy; that is in exploring the origins of policies, the nature and definition of the problems that education is asked to solve, and the historical, cultural and social practices that filter or mediate policies. The second concerns educational practices and performance and the development of quality in schooling, including work on the educational potential of new technologies, forms of excellence in teaching practice and the performance of schools.
Research into education policy draws on a diversity of intellectual traditions, including critical social policy, poststructuralist theories of governance, feminism, theories of identity and cultural studies. We have recently focused on two interconnected themes; the reshaping of education governance and its consequences for social inclusion/exclusion and education politics, and families, childhood and identity in education. Research into educational practices and performance and the development of quality in schooling focuses on teaching and learning practice school management and leadership. Projects are often run in close collaboration with schools....

In the second semester of the first year, the student upgrades knowledge with two elective subjects in the technical field and one elective course in the pedagogical didactic field. At the same time, he/she begins his/her individual research work on relevant issues in the field of education in engineering. In two semesters, the student completes 1800 hours of organized and individual forms of study and research work and collects 60 ECTS credits.
In the winter semester of the second year, students take optional elective courses from postgraduate study programs of domestic or foreign faculties or universities (one course in technical direction and one course in pedagogy). The student may also select the subjects from the elective subjects of the proposed study program if he/she did not select them previously. In the winter semester of the second year, the student also performs individual research work, which he/she continues in the second semester of the second year. The goal of the Ph.D. programme is to prepare the next generation of leading researchers.
The Ph.D. is a programme of independent, self-directed academic research degree, supported by a team of supervisors that makes an original contribution to knowledge written up in a publishable dissertation. The Ph.D. programme also supports the development of research and generic skills to equip you to operate successfully as a professional researcher in any setting. The essential requirement of a Ph.D. is the creation of new knowledge. Being a researcher means developing new ideas and improving understanding through the creation of new knowledge. Your research will inevitably build to some degree on the work and ideas of others, but as a research student, you are expected to make an original contribution to knowledge in your discipline....

The study program is focused on the problematic of didactics of physics and general problems of physics. It stems from scientific disciplines such as physics, didactics of physics, pedagogy, and psychology. The main goal is to provide students with a complex overview of the didactics of physics, teach them independent scientific practice in this field and allow for a deeper understanding of some parts of physics. This program naturally follows the master’s program Physics Education for Secondary Schools which, out of the whole Charles University, can be studied solely at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. It is therefore natural that this faculty also has a doctorate program focused on didactics of physics and general problems of physics. This study program is unique by being the only one at our university to offer doctorate-level studies in the field of didactics of physics....
